LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF MABEL TOLKIEN

 

A most important document that laid the foundation for J R R Tolkien's upbringing in the Roman Catholic Church, was his mother's Will. It is reproduced below. She died on 14th November 1904, aged 34, in Fern Cottage at Rednal in Worcester, having sunk into a diabetic coma . Her sister, May Incledon, and Father Francis Morgan, were at her bedsde. She is buried at St Peter's Church, Bromsgrove.
